Spicy Seaweed Tofu Rolls (海苔巻き豆腐)

   My homemade dish called "Spicy Seaweed Tofu Rolls".


Recipe : 3 servings
2 blocks (400 grams) fried tofu・・・厚揚げ
3 nori sheets (dried seaweed)…板海苔
2 cloves garlic minced
1 small chili pepper sliced
2 tbs. soy sauce
2 tbs. sugar
2 tbs. water
suitable amount of vegetable oil
***garnish***
chopped green onions, lime or lemon, fresh herbs and etc.

(注)tbs.=table spoon (大さじ) tsp.=tea spoon (小さじ)

Directions : 
1. Cut the tofu brocks into rectangles of 1 cm thick and 6 cm long.
2. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the tofu and fry for 5 minutes. And set aside.
3. Cut the nori sheets into strips. The sheets should be about the same width as the tofu and long enough to wrap it.
4. Tightly wrap a rectangle of tofu into a sheet of nori. Repeat with the remaining tofu.
5. Heat oil in the pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the garlic and pepper and saute for 2 minutes.
6. Add the tofu rolls in the pan and saute for another 2 minutes.
7. In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, sugar and water. Pour into the pan and cook for another 5 minutes.

【筆者感想】
これは美味い、だけど作るのに時間が掛かります。豆腐に海苔をきつく奇麗に巻くのが大変。きつく巻くと油で海苔が豆腐にくっつきますが緩いと調理中に剥がれてきます。なお一つの厚揚げのブロックで約14個の角棒状の豆腐が作れます。また海苔は一つのシートから9枚の小分けした海苔が作れます・・・1個合わないですが(笑)。
