ICOM Amateur Radio Festival in Tokyo

The ICOM Amateur Radio Festival was held at the ICOM Tokyo office, Nihonbasi-Hamacho, Chuo, Tokyo yesterday.

A lecture...The actual contest competition by the leading competitor in Japan.

He explained an SO2R operating practice in the sport of amateur radio contesting. In the contest some conpetitors use two transceivers attached to separate antennas with BPFs having sharp characteristics. Competitors can listen signals from two transceivers with a stereo headset and he can listen one amateur radio band while transmitting on another. This capability enables the operator to make score points more efficiently... he said SO2R is 120% efficient compared to a single radio.

(note) SO2R=Single Operator Two Radios

An unscripted talk show by JA3FA

He is the founder of ICOM. He had previously founded "Inoue Denki Seisakusyo" assembling and repairing of electric products. He was sometimes requested to repair US ham radio equippments and make mobile ham radio equippments by neighboring ham radio operators. There were about 20 workers at the time that ICOM was established. ICOM are eager to make an innovative product that no one has ever developed. This is the biggest reason that ICOM makes out really well in the ham radio business.

A free gift
